Press release from the District Attorney of Jefferson and Gilpin Counties: August 5, 2021 The First Judicial District Attorney's Office has received multiple calls from older adults who have received an electronic statement from Amazon showing an invoice for a large purchase which needs immediate attention. The invoice looks real and contains the Amazon logo. Here are a few suggestions to determine the invoice to be false: Click on the logo and see if a box appears around it Hover your mouse over the sender to see the real email address Look to see if the URL is different than the website (Example: amazonx.com, instead of amazon.com) For more tips, advice and information, view this month's Fraud Alert (PDF).
