Lawrence BOE Seeks To Fill Vacant Seat After Board Member Resigns

LAWRENCEVILLE, NJ — Lawrence Board of Education member Jonathan Dauber resigned from his position recently, leaving a vacancy on the board. Dauber's current term would have ended in January 2023. He resigned for "personal reasons," the school district said. The BOE is expected to formally accept Dauber's resignation at the Aug 11 regular meeting. During his tenure, Dauber served on the BOE's Community Relations and Legislative Affairs, Finance, Personnel, CIAPD (Curriculum, Instruction, and Professional Development), and Special Education Ad Hoc Committees. He also served as a liaison between the BOE and Lawrence Township Council. The resignation has left a vacancy on the board which the BOE is seeking to fill. To serve on the Lawrence Township Board of Education, candidates must: Be a citizen of the United States of America. Be at least 18 years of age. Be able to read and write. Been a resident of Lawrence Township for at least one year preceding the date of the election. Have not been disqualified as a voter pursuant to R.S.19:4-1. Be a registered voter in the district. Those interested in filling the BOE vacancy must submit a letter of interest including information about themselves and reasons for their interest to Board Secretary Thomas Eldridge, Lawrence Township Public via email to [email protected] by 12 p.m. Aug. 20. Board of Education members will interview applicants during the public session of the Aug. 25 meeting. The meeting is scheduled to begin at 6:30 p.m. in the Lawrence High School auditorium.
