Description
WHEATON, IL — A longtime Wheaton police officer is in the fight of his life after being diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia.
Chris Harpling, who has worked on the city's police force for more than 20 years, has been hospitalized with a low white blood cell count after being diagnosed just days ago, according to a GoFundMe page started to benefit his family. Harpling is married with three kids who are between the ages of two and nine years old.
He will be unable to see his family and friends while he undergoes "aggressive chemotherapy" in the coming weeks, the fundraiser description explained. The GoFundMe hopes to raise money for Harpling's costly medical bills and to make up for the unpaid time he has to take off work.
