DELAWARE COUNTY, PA — Delaware County officials are now requiring masks in all county-operated buildings as the Delta Variant of the coronavirus is causing an increase in cases. The county recently said it will be following guidance issued by the CDC that all people — even vaccinated people — wear masks in public indoor settings in areas of substantial or high transmission. Delaware County was recently listed as having substantial transmission by the CDC. According to the county, Delco's seven-day case average has increased from 6 to 45, which represents a 360 percent increase in new cases in the past two weeks. The county Thursday said 58 percent of residents have received at least one vaccine, and 89 percent of residents 65 and older are fully vaccinated. Officials said a 70 percent vaccination rate is the goal to reach herd immunity. Information on the coronavirus vaccine is available online here.
