Drummer, 38, Looking to Form a Dance Band I am a 38 year old drummer who wants to get a "covers only" dance band going doing music from the 70's thru today for quality better paying local gigs (private parties, etc). I don't even want to hear about any originals you might have or want to do as I want to do steady gigs where we actually get paid. The ideal band would be 2 guitars, a bass, and drums, (sorry keyboardists but I rather not have someone in the band who plays in 12 other bands), so if you play guitar or bass at least decently I want to hear from you. If you can sing some leads too then I really want to talk to you. You also need to know the difference between dance music and non dance music so we're all on the same page. A few examples would be "The Breakup Song by Greg Kin" "Play that Funky Music by Wild Cherry" Somebody's Baby by Jackson Browne" and even "Circles by Post Malone". In other words, if you think Metallica, Iron Maiden, or other bands like them play dance music, this won't be a good fit for you. Once we're all together I expect everyone to do their homework and show up to rehearsal's on time and prepared so we can be out gigging in a reasonable amount of time. While we want to have fun doing this and it's not only about the money, part of this is about making some money so the " I don't care about the money" attitude which translates to "I don't care about taking this serious" won't fly. We also won't be drinking or smoking weed during rehersals or gigs. If any of these things are a problem for you, please don't waste my time by responding to this. We won't rush things but we aren't going to be a year in rehersal and be no where near gig ready either. You get the point. Now, I don't have a place to reherse so if you do that's great but either way we'll need that too.
