Friends, gather round for a sad story.... In the summer of 2019 I took a camping trip in New Mexico with a couple friends that was a grand old time. I returned from the trip to realize I had stuffed my friend's koozie in my back pocket one night and left it there - a black insulated drink koozie with the words BEAT MITT written on it huge in yellow. This is because the friend was in Iowa at the time of the 2012 election and Iowa Democrats had one main goal which was to, well, beat Mitt. The koozie has since traveled with me everywhere and I rarely take a beerwalk without it. Well, on Tuesday July 27th, it was announced that Slipknot's legendary, godlike original drummer Joey Jordison had passed away. And well, I had to cope somehow and ended up pouring a few drinks out and stomping around the neighborhood to their classic first couple albums and upon waking with a headache the next day, my friend BEAT MITT was nowhere to be found.
