Description
SIP is a monthly program-based happy hour with informal community conversations about pressing social issues. Prova Lab is an organization dedicated to catalyzing social innovation. A key element of this mission is our engaged & supportive network of collaborative, purpose-driven people. This group includes social impact & nonprofit professionals, educators, social entrepreneurs, and other folks in the community who are interested in learning more about social issues. Our 2021 SIP programming will be focused on climate justice. We continue this month with Professor Alice Kaswan from USF, who will chat with us about what "justice" means in the context of climate justice. Please join us on TUESDAY, 10 AUGUST at SPARK ARTS, located in the Castro. WHO IS ALICE? Alice Kaswan is Professor and Associate Dean for Faculty Scholarship at the University of San Francisco School of Law. She is an expert on climate change policy and on environmental justice. She has explored climate justice governance in the context of climate adaptation, strategic and inclusive climate action planning, and market-based mechanisms. Kaswan received her B.S., with highest honors, from UC Berkeley and her J.D., cum laude, from Harvard Law School. She is an elected member of the American Law Institute, a member of the Board of Directors for the Center for Progressive Reform, and a past Chair of the Association of American Law Schools’ Environmental Law Section. WHAT IS SPARK ARTS? Located in the Castro neighborhood of San Francisco, Spark Arts is a gallery and creative gathering space. Spark Arts enriches the lives of the wider community by cultivating opportunities to experience art, music, and other forms of cultural celebration. **This event is free.** Doors open at 5:30. Don't forget your mask: the mandate is back in place for all indoor spaces. We will be following SF guidance on this.
