Mayor Sylvester Turner and the Office of Complete Communities invite you to the Community Celebration of the Bethune Empowerment Center
Mayor Sylvester Turner and the Office of Complete Communities invite you to the Community Celebration of the Bethune Empowerment Center (BEC) launch in Acres Home.
We’re celebrating the kick-off of the renovation work that will transform the former Bethune Academy into the Bethune Empowerment Center – a workforce development hub for the community!
We’re also cutting the ribbon to formally open the Sowing Seeds Community Garden- the newest community garden in Acres Home.
And, we’re welcoming the Bethune Empowerment Center's first tenant, the Acres Home Farmer's Market, in its new location.
The event is from 10 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 7, 2021, at 2500 S. Victory Drive, Houston, TX 77088.
Overflow parking is available at Carver High School, located at 2100 S. Victory Drive, Houston, TX 77088 – directly across the street from the BEC. A METRO shuttle bus will provide transportation from the parking lot to the farmer’s market.
Join us to meet the BEC team, support local small businesses, check on how the garden is growing, and spend time with neighbors.
A METRO cooling bus will be on site. Masks are required to ride on the shuttle and or sit in the cooling bus.
Please RSVP and come out on Saturday to celebrate this Complete Communities milestone!
