The Nebraska Dept. of Labor has some wonderful resources to help foster the growth of your business! Take advantage of this FREE workshop! Ever been interested in having a registered apprenticeship? Maybe you're curious about how "on the job" training works? Did you know there is a grant to help pay for employee training? The Workforce Solutions staff is offering an interactive resources workshop in conjunction with the Nebraska Department of Labor. Attend one or all of the sessions. You will have a chance to hear from the DOL experts as well as current employers who are currently using these resources. Ask all of your questions during the Q&A panels and bring your current Nebraska Worker Training Grant Application to receive quick feedback. Participants will receive a tool kit with resources they may use in the future as a "thank you" for attending! Register now while seats are available! The information you provide below will be used to ensure we have adequate materials and to help us evaluate our outreach to our 15-county service area. Your information will not be given to other parties or used for marketing. We will send you an email reminder a few days prior to the event and will also ask you to evaluate the workshop via email link following the grant workshop. There is NO CHARGE to attend the workshop. AgendaSession 1: Apprenticeships 9 a.m........Presenter-Elliott Cain, Reemployment Program Coordinator – Registered Apprenticeship (presentation & Q&A) The Registered Apprenticeship system combines supervised on-the-job training with technical classroom instruction in subjects related to the apprentice’s chosen occupation. The apprentice has the opportunity to earn a living while gaining skills, and pay raises are awarded throughout the program as skills increase. Apprenticeship programs are operated by both the public and private sector. Those entities offering an apprenticeship program are called sponsors, and may be an employer, employer association, or labor union. Recently, community colleges, workforce development centers, and faith and community-based organizations have collaborated with businesses and industries to develop Registered Apprenticeship programs through sponsoring employer-participation agreements. The sponsor of an apprenticeship program plans, administers and usually pays for the program.10 a.m......Employer Spotlight-GSK Session 2: On The Job Training (OJT) 11 a.m.......Presenter-Ashley Pick, Reemployment Program Coordinator-Economic Transition National Dislocated Worker Grant (presentation & Q&A)& Employer Spotlight Ever wonder what "OJT" really means or how the program works? This session will explain how OJT offers employers a wage reimbursement while providing your new hire with the support they need to be successful in their new position. You will also hear from an employer who is using the program and how it works for them! Lunch: 12 p.m. to 1 p.m. (On your own) Session 3: Bonds & Credits 1 p.m........Presenter-Keaton Irwin, Reemployment Program Coordinator (presentation & Q&A) Come learn about resources such as the Work Opportunity Tax Credit (WOTC) which is a Federal tax credit available to employers that helps workers that have faced significant barriers to employment move from economic dependency into self-sufficiency as they earn a steady income and become contributing taxpayers, while participating employers are able to reduce their income tax liability.
