Help us clean up the Murfreesboro Greenway!
On Saturday September 25, 2021, local volunteers will join others across the nation to celebrate National Public Day and perform service to care for America’s magnificent trail system and ensure everyone in the U.S. can enjoy trails and natural areas. Stones River National Battlefield and its community partners are looking for volunteers to clean up trash along the the entire three miles of the Stones River Greenway.
Registration is required. Volunteers will assemble at their assigned trail head at 9 AM on June 5, 2021. After a short orientation, teams will walk their assigned section of the greenway picking trash along the way. Each section will require about one mile of walking.
Volunteers should wear closed toe shoes and are encouraged to wear pants and bring a long sleeve shirt. Volunteers should also bring a water bottle and work gloves if they have them.
Stones River National Battlefield, a unit of the National Park Service, preserves and interprets the landscapes where one of the most important battles of the American Civil War raged from December 31, 1862 through January 2, 1863.
