Be part of our SWAP PARTY! Bring clothing, accessories, NEW personal hygiene/toiletries to our Clothing SWAP! We invite you to be part of our SWAP PARTY! Bring clothing, accessories, personal hygiene or toiletries OR your welcomed to donate a bag of canned/shelf stable food to participate. FAQs DROP OFF INFO: 4/25 Thursday 10am-4pm 4/26 Friday 10am-4pm Drop off Location: 7841 Balboa Ave Suite 100, SD 92111 Our goal is to provide you with a FREE and fun experience. No more digging through messy piles! So we have a fun, neatly organized swapping experience, Registration is appreciated. Our Clothing Swap is FREE and open to the public! WHO WE ARE? We are a food bank and through this swap hoping to raise awareness of working individuals and families in our community facing food insecurity. If you would like to donate funds or shelf stable items, please consider bringing with you to the swap. HOW DO I PARTICIPATE? Step 1. Sign-up & let us know what sizes you will be bringing. Step 2. Clean out your closet and find items that are still in good condition. There is no limit to how many you can swap! Step 3. Check items for holes, rips, stains, broken zippers, missing buttons and be sure to empty pockets. All items must be clean and free of any smoke or animal odors. Step 4. Fold and sort your items by size. Women’s (Blouses & Shirts, Dresses, Bottoms, Shoes, Maternity) and Accessories Step 5. Drop-off your items at one of our volunteer locations the week leading up to the Swap. Step 6. Come shop the swap! WHAT CAN I SWAP? You are welcome to swap any women's in-style clothes, shoes, purses & accessories that are clean and in like-new condition. Some of these items may include... Blouses - Tank Tops - Jeans - Dress Pants – Pajamas - Leggings - Shorts - Capris - Skirts - Dresses - Formal Wear - Sweaters - Jackets - Active Wear - Bras - Swimwear - Active Shoes - Dress Shoes - Boots - Belts - Scarves - Sunglasses - Earrings - Bracelets - Watches - Necklaces - Rings - and more! ***At this time, UNLESS NEW WITH TAGS we cannot accept socks or underwear. HOW DOES THE SWAP WORK? Items are dropped off the week leading up to the swap. On Saturday, April 27, 2019, you come shop the swap from 9:30 am-12:00pm at Porchlight Community- 7841 Balboa Ave, San Diego. All of the items will be organized by size and type and will be hanging on clothing wracks or neatly folded on tables. WILL THERE BE A PLACE TO TRY THINGS ON? Yes! We will set up our office to as fitting rooms and will have full length mirrors placed around the event for you to use. WHAT ITEMS ARE ACCEPTED? We accept women’s clothing in sizes 0-24, maternity clothes, women’s shoes in sizes 5-13 and all types of accessories! WHAT IS NOT ACCEPTED? We aren’t super picky! Just as long as it’s not baby, kids, juniors or men’s clothes. Nothing with holes, rips, stains, fabric pilling or bad smells. No used underwear, used socks or hats. WHAT HAPPENS TO THE LEFTOVER CLOTHES AFTER THE SWAP? Our volunteers will sort all of the leftovers out and donate them to other local charities. CAN I JUST SHOW UP AND SWAP? We require you to register and drop-off your clothes ahead of time so we have a chance to sort and organize the swap for you. CAN I JUST DONATE CLOTHES? I’M NOT INTERESTED IN SWAPPING. Absolutely! We would be happy to take your donations and add them to the swap. WHERE DO WE DROP OUR ITEMS OFF? Drop-off locations are at our office. We are also looking for volunteers who sign-up for their home to be a drop spot. CAN I VOLUNTEER TO HELP OUT? Yes, we’d love your help! PLUS all volunteers earn early bird shopping before the swap! We have three ways you can volunteer: Clothing Drop Spot [ April 24nd – April 26th ] Check & sort items dropped-off at your home Event Worker [ April 27th 8:00am-1:00pm ] Help greet, check-out or rehang clothes Set-up & Tear-down [ April 27th | 8-9:30am & 12:30-1:30pm ] Help neatly hang and lay-out all of the clothes by size and type, bag up all leftovers to donate to other agencies. No one gets paid, so we ask that all participants help whenever possible. We build our community by working together as a community. We work towards helping our community eliminate food insecurity. Our aim is to help families eliminate food insecurity and work towards financial stability. By saving money on grocery staples, they can put those savings towards paying down other bills, medical expenses, home or vehicle repairs.
