WALTHAM, MA — Three students from Waltham shared their industry scholarship and research projects at the Lasell University Spring Symposium, which was held at the end of the spring 2021 semester.
This year's symposium, "The Invention of Now," gave students an opportunity to share their work with the greater community. The Spring Symposium is one of two research symposia held at Lasell on an annual basis.
The following students from Waltham presented at the Lasell's 2021 Spring Symposium:
Samantha Vega-Torres presented the latest issue of the student-run magazine Polished, which focuses on Boston's fashion and cultural scene. The magazine has received numerous awards from the Columbia Scholastic Press Association and is recognized as one of the leading collegiate publications in the country. Vega-Torres also shared a presentation on Nobel Laureate Rabindranath Tagore and the ways in which his work explores multiple sides of globalization. Emily Casella studied various aspects of personality from a psychological perspective presented a podcast she created that is designed to help others achieve happiness or fulfill a goal in their lives. Casella also shared a presentation on her podcast, "Just College Things," which was created to help people who are considering going to college learn about it from current students.Sydney Carter also shared a presentation on Nobel Laureate Rabindranath Tagore and his exploration of globalization. Lasell University, a private school located in Newton, Massachusetts, is known for helping students make the connection between classroom lessons and real life through hands-on activities and projects.
