Common Coming To SummerStage In Central Park

NEW YORK CITY — SummerStage's lineup just gained extra pizzazz. Rapper and songwriter Common — who holds a trifecta of Grammy, Emmy and Academy Awards — will be performing alongside by Grammy-nominated rapper Rapsody and Bronx-born hip-hop producer Pete Rock. The trio are scheduled for Rumsey Playfield at Central Park on Aug. 22. Common released his latest album "A Beautiful Revolution (Pt 1)" in October 2020. The eight-track album features Stevie Wonder, Lenny Kravitz, PJ, Chuck D, Morgan Parker and Jessica Care Moore. Tracks include "Say Peace," "A Riot In My Mind" and "Don't Forget Who You Are." A recent single Common released, "Imagine," harps of a better world: "Imagine if you could change the world through songNo longer do we have to pay back school loansImagine in the hood doin' our own renovationsAnother way to keep the dollars circulatingMountain tops of patience just to heal a nation" Related SummerStage 2021 Lineup: Wynton Marsalis, Patti Smith and more Delta variant concerns prompted SummerStage organizers to strongly encourage all concertgoers to be fully vaccinated and to wear masks in all venues amid delta variant. SummerStage venues will continue to operate at reduced capacity, organizers said. Advance tickets for the Common show start at $35. Tickets are $45 on the day of the show. Doors open at 6 p.m. The show is from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. The show is open to all ages. Purchase your Eventbrite tickets here. In a separate announcement, SummerStage announced that tickets are no longer required for free performances. All free performances are open to the public on a first come, first served basis.
