Description

SHOREWOOD, WI — Water meter replacements will begin for areas north of Capitol Drive and west of Oakland Avenue. Work is expected to last from Aug. 9 to Sept. 17. Residents in that area may have already received notification from the Village, which began on July 30. Information to confirm appointments with the Village's contractor, Vanguard Utility Systems, is contained within those notices. The work will require contractors to enter residents homes, according to the Village's project website. The water meter replacement process is mandated by the Wisconsin Public Service Commission to happen every 20 years — the last Shorewood replacement was started in 1995. The new water meters will use an advanced metering infrastructure reading system. This system will monitor water consumption by the hour, and can detect leaks automatically, according to the project website. Shorewood was split up into three regions for the work. Contractors begin in the northwest part of the village and will then head east, then south. Phase one will see replacements in the northwest of the Village from Aug. 9 to Sept. 17. Work will start in area 2 on Sept. 6. Area 2 is everything east of Oakland Avenue and north of Capitol Drive, except for one small section which is in area 3. Work will start in area 3, the final region, on October 4. Area 3 is everything south of Capitol Drive, plus everything east of Downer Avenue and south of Jarvis Street. See the project website for more details.
