The Alverno College Art and Cultures Gallery will feature a director's invitation exhibition called WOW! Women of Wisconsin September 3 through October 9. This biennial exhibition will feature the work of women artists from all media including painting, photography, sculpture, metal work, mixed media and drawing. Located in the Alverno Art and Cultures Gallery, the powerful exhibit celebrates established and emerging women artists from diverse backgrounds and the limitless ways in which they express themselves artistically. The gallery will host an opening reception on September 10 from 4:30-8 p.m. At the beginning of the opening reception, there will be a panel discussion in the studio adjacent to the gallery. The discussion is free and open to the public. Gallery hours are Monday - Saturday, 10 a.m.-4 p.m., and Thursday 10 a.m.-7 p.m. Artists featured in the exhibit include: Ian Baker Johnson – painter Blanche Brown – mixed media Agnes Chwae – metalsmith, sculpture Nova Czarnecki – painting, panelist Jan Falk – fibers Pamela Ferderbar – photography Marna Goldstein Brauner – fibers Rozalia Hernandez Singh – painting, muralist Hai Chi Jihn – metalsmith, sculpture Teresa Lind – sculpture Jessica Meuninck-Ganger – printmaking, bookmaking Colette Odya Smith – pastels Rosy Petri – multidisciplinary Angela Pierro – abstract painting Nirmal Raja – interdisciplinary Tia Richardson – painting, muralist Katerina Sanerib – sculpture Jill Sebastian – sculpture Denise Schanz – sculpture Maria Tammi – sculpture Evelyn Patricia Terry – interdisciplinary, panelist Colleen Volland – ceramics Julie VonDerVellen – paper, sculpture, panelist Jean Wells – ceramics, panelist Lynn Whitford – metalsmith, sculpture The Alverno College Art and Cultures Gallery is located in Alexia Hall, 3901 South 39th Street. Free parking is available.
