Town Issues Reminder of Local Mask Advisory – July 30, 2021
With the recent increase in transmission of COVID-19 in Barnstable County, the Town reminds residents that that there is a local mask advisory in place: Effective May 25, 2021, the Falmouth Board of Health and Select Board issued an advisory to wear masks in indoor public spaces in the Town of Falmouth, finding that COVID-19 is still a threat to the health of our community and that masks are an effective means to mitigate the threat of transmission.
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) issued new guidance July 27th recommending that individuals in areas of "high or substantial transmission" should wear masks when indoors in public even if they are vaccinated. Barnstable County is an area of "high transmission" as of the date of this release. The full CDC guidance is below.
UPDATE from the Centers for Disease Control – July 27, 2021
Getting vaccinated prevents severe illness, hospitalizations, and death. Unvaccinated people should get vaccinated and continue masking until they are fully vaccinated. With the Delta variant, this is more urgent than ever. CDC has updated guidance for fully vaccinated people based on new evidence on the Delta variant.
