Description

Come support what works for Detroit! See how Atlantic Impact prepares young Detroiter's (16-24) for an economically mobile future . Join Atlantic Impact for our First Summer Open House on August 20th. Celebrate the future of Detroit and help raise $4,500 to support the young Detroiters in our skill trades program and continue to prove that Summer Works! And we have a lot to celebrate with you: We grew our partnership with Grow Detroit's Young Talent, by becoming an Industry-Led Trainer through Detroit Employment Solutions Corporation (DESC). Through this city-wide summer employment program, we offered two skilled trades cohorts led by highly experienced union carpentry and masonry instructors. We also formed a new partnership with Covenant House, a national youth shelter, to provide our skilled trades program to youth from their shelter and support programs. We grew our partnership with Grow Detroit's Young Talent, a city-wide summer employment program, and they are now able to refer their youth to two skilled trades cohorts as opposed to just one. That means we are running three cohorts of skilled trades students this summer! That's right! THREE COHORTS of students between 16 and 24 are learning masonry, carpentry, heavy equipment, gaining vital employability skills, career planning, and much more. All of the students who complete our program are also on track to earn $7,500 more than their peers every single year. That's why we are asking you to support these young Detroiters by raising $7,500 to support our program this summer. We still need to raise $4,500 to get to our goal and you can help us get there! Be a part of what works for Detroit and help Detroiters get to work. The program will begin at 12:30 and light refreshments will be served. Ample street parking and a small number of parking lot spaces will be available. We also ask that you follow CDC and Michigan guidelines regarding social distancing and masks. If you have any questions, please contact [email protected] or [email protected].
