Information from Stamford Public Schools
STAMFORD, CT — Stamford Public Schools has announced that Matthew Forker has been named principal of Stamford High School. Forker is replacing Raymond Manka, who left the district at the end of June after accepting a principal position at New Milford High School, according to a news release.
Forker has been SHS for the last 23 years, serving as assistant principal for the last decade. Forker began his career as a teacher in the Social Studies Department and coached field hockey, ice hockey, lacrosse and golf. He attended Stark, Dolan, and is a graduate of SHS himself ('92).
"Matt's commitment to and knowledge of the SHS community make him the ideal principal for SHS," said SPS Superintendent Dr. Tamu Lucero in a news release. "I am so excited to see and support Matt in this next step as a leader in SPS."
Forker holds a bachelor's degree in history from Seton Hall University and a master's degree in education from New Haven University. He earned his Sixth Year Certification in educational administration from the University of Bridgeport.
