MIDDLETOWN, CT — A man has been charged in connection with the fatal shooting of a 25-year-old man in Middletown in May, according to police.
Matthew O'Banner, 20, was taken into custody at a home in New Jersey on Thursday, according to Lt. Brian Hubbs.
Hubbs said the Middletown Detective Division has been working with the U.S. Marshals Service to find O'Banner, who was wanted in connection with the killing of Tylon Hardy in the area of Highlands Crescent and Stirling Court on May 16.
The Middletown Detective Division obtained a fully extraditable arrest warrant for O'Banner, according to Hubbs. O'Banner was taken into custody by U.S. Marshals, who were working in conjunction with Middletown detectives, Hubbs said.
O'Banner, of Stirling Court, was charged with murder, first-degree assault, carrying a pistol or revolver without a permit, unlawful discharge of a firearm, reckless endangerment and commission of an A, B, or C felony with a firearm. He was being held as a fugitive from justice in lieu of a $2 million bond awaiting extradition, according to Hubbs.
Hubbs said the investigation is ongoing. Anyone with information is asked to contact Middletown Detective Stroud at 860-638-4147.
