Theatre Coppell – Rodgers & Hammerstein's Cinderella July 30, 31 & August 1 | Friday and Saturday 8 pm & Sunday 2:30 pm | Coppell Arts Center Cinderella, treated like a slave by her stepmother and stepsisters, is paid a visit by her Fairy Godmother, who shows her that anything is possible. With a sweep of the Godmother's magic wand, Cinderella is aided to go to the Prince's ball in a gorgeous gown in a golden carriage pulled by transformed mice. When the clock strikes midnight, Cinderella's magic is fading when she must escape the castle, leaving her glass slipper behind. In a kingdom-wide search, the Prince finally locates her and, of course, there is a happy ending. This spectacular new Broadway musical revives the popular songs "In My Own Little Corner" and "Impossible," plus a host of other fabled tunes. This is the first show in the Wheelice Wilson, Jr. at the Coppell Arts Center. For tickets or more information, please visit coppellartscenter.org. They will sing, dance, and enjoy stories. Please stay together with your group and maintain social distancing from others. All ages welcome. Town Center Plaza is located behind the library. They will be by the Storybook Walk, near the YMCA. In the event of adverse weather, storytime will be canceled. Coppell Women's Club August 4 | 10 am | Church of the Apostles This is the Coppell Women's Club Welcome Back Coffee for renewing members and prospective members. Signups for Special Interest Groups will be included. How to Lower Your Water Bill August 7 | 10 am – Noon | Biodiversity Education Center It's all a matter of supply and demand. A panel of representatives from the Texas Water Development board and City of Coppell will put the issues of water consumption and conservation in perspective from state, municipal, and residential levels. Learn where your tap water comes from, and how you can save money by monitoring consumption of this increasingly scarce resource. This program is FREE of charge, registration is required, and space is limited. Page Turners Book Club August 9 | 6:30 pm | Cozby Library and Community Commons Join Cozby Library and Community Commons for an evening of discussing books! This month they are discussing A Thousand Splendid Suns by Khaled Hosseini. For adults aged 18 and up. Registration is required. Adult CPR-AED August 14 | 9 am – Noon | Life Safety Park CPR AED is an instructor-led course that teaches critical skills needed to respond to and manage an emergency situation until emergency medical services arrives. Skills covered in this course include first aid, choking relief, and what to do for sudden cardiac arrest in adults, children, and infants. There is no minimum age requirement for this class; however, all registrants need to be capable of comprehending the material and participating in the activities. In general, this class suits ages 15+. Registration is required. Hajj: The Islamic Pilgrimage August 14 | 2 - 3 pm | Cozby Library and Community Commons Have you ever wondered what is Hajj? Or how do Muslims celebrate Eid ul Adha? Join us to learn about the Islamic pilgrimage in the footsteps of Abraham, the history of Abraham's travels to Mecca, and Hager and Ishmael's legacy in Mecca. There will be opportunities for education as well as activities for all ages. Coppell Youth Soccer Association August 16 Fall Team practices start! Sketching Class August 16 | 1 pm | Coppell Senior and Community Center Join Cozby Library and Community Common on Zoom or in-person at the Coppell Senior Center for an hour of sketching! They'll be sketching a picture of a crab with Matt from the Virtual Instructor on YouTube. You will need a blank sheet of paper and a regular pencil with an eraser. Relax, have fun and visit with friends while sketching a "cool" crab. Advance registration is required. Class is limited to 20. Got Books Book Club August 16 | 6:30 pm | Cozby Library and Community Commons They call this the "no pressure book club" because you can read whatever you want!
