Description
PROVIDENCE, RI — A Providence infant nearly died due to neglect last month, the Department of Children, Youth and Families said.
The incident happened July 14, the department said, involving an 11-month-old infant. Following its investigation, DCYF said it determined that neglect contributed to the near-death. No further information was released in the public report, due to confidentiality concerns.
While the family was previously involved with DCYF, it was not at the time the incident happened.
"DCYF's highest priority is the safety and well-being of all children," The department said, adding that residents are required to reported suspected child abuse or neglect within 24 hours of becoming aware. Call 1-800-RI-CHILD to report.
