POTTSTOWN, PA — A winning track runner who also earned high grades while at Pottstown High School was recognized recently for being the kind of person others can imitate. Darius Smallwood, of the Pottstown High School Class of 2021, was honored by Pottstown Mayor Stephanie Henrick with a proclamation recognizing his good citizenship, academic and athletic success. Some of his athletic accomplishments include a PIAA state championship in the 800-meter dash, breaking a 50-year Pottstown record with a time of 1:51.91, and a sixth-place finish at the national track championships. Smallwood was an honor roll student and is an outstanding representative of his family, school district, and community, the recognition noted. He was joined at the ceremony by his mother Stacy Steele and by John Johnson, one of Pottstown High School's track coaches. His good citizenship, academic, and athletic success make him serve as a role model and example that hard work pays off, the School District said. Make sure you know what's happening in your town.
