General Construction Laborer $11.00 - $13.00/hour Summary Tyson & Sons, Inc. dba D & R Utility Construction is a licensed Utility Contractor in the Water/Wastewater industry specializing in Commercial Underground Utility Systems since 1997. We take pride in offering high­ quality construction services to our customers throughout Savannah & the surrounding low country regions. Due to growing project demands, we are in need of entry-level construction laborers who are able to start as soon as possible. Applicants must be familiar with basic construction practices on and off the jobsites as well as working around heavy equipment i.e. excavator, backhoe, loader, etc. New employees will be placed on 90-day probationary period upon hire. Raises & promotions are contingent upon review of employee job knowledge & performance. Basic Requirements: • Able to work outdoors & in wet/muddy conditions. • Meet attendance requirements with dependability and consistency • Assist crew to fullest capacity as instructed by foreman. • Perform manual labor-intensive tasks i.e. heavy lifting, shoveling, etc. • Work with & around large heavy equipment. • Able to operate basic power tools and equipment. • Material handling and storage. • Maintain clean work environment • Able to understand and comply with company policies and safety guidelines. • Able to follow instructions / take direction with positive attitude. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: • Assist with all phases of underground utility construction including but not limited to: Loading, driving, delivery, digging, removal and placement of various types and sizes of construction materials etc. • Maintain visual and audible contact with other crewman and all moving or stationary persons/vehicles/objects to ensure safe coordination of movement. • Use various digging tools to prepare holes, ditches, trenches etc. for pipe placement and installation. • Handling/operating power tools (pipe saws, drills, grinders, jackhammers, generators, walk behind saws) • Frequently work with concrete, brickwork, wood framing tools etc. • Assist foreman with positioning/maneuvering heavy equipment, large pipe, precast structures etc. Benefits: • Medical/Dental/Vision • Supplemental Accident/Life/Cancer Etc. • Paid Holidays • Paid Week of Christmas • 401k Retirement Mandatory Requirement: Applicants must be able to provide a valid copy of driver's license and/or state issued ID and social security card at time of employment.
