Press release from the Novato Unified School District: lbenjamin August 4th, 2021 8.4.2021 NUSD Back to School Covid Update Dear NUSD Parents and Guardians: We're excited for this school year to begin and to see your students on campus!  We are so happy to offer full days and full programs. In preparing for the new school year, our administrators have been following the latest updates from Marin Public Health and the California Department of Public Health.  Today, we attended a webinar hosted by Lisa Santora, Deputy Marin Public Health Officer, and Mary Jane Burke, Superintendent, Marin County Office of Education. Below are some highlights of the protocols and guidelines from Marin Public Health that will affect our school community: Please keep your child(ren) home and don't bring them to school if they're feeling sick.  It is recommended they get tested for Covid when feeling sick. When travelling outside of California (including international travel): Vaccinated students need to monitor for symptoms for 14 days.  If travelling internationally, get tested 5 days after travel. Unvaccinated students get tested 3-5 days after travel and stay home and quarantine for 7 full days. https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/travelers/travel-during-covid19.html Wearing masks indoors is required at school. State regulation can be found here. Drop off and pick up – continue the same practice as last year. Your principal will provide further instructions. Volunteers will be limited and must be vaccinated. Masks, disinfecting wipes and hand sanitizer will continue to be supplied and available at all school sites. Per Marin Public Health, all eligible students and staff should get vaccinated as soon as possible and will be required to verify their vaccination status. Your principal will provide more information on how this will be collected. Staff and student vaccination rate data (the percentage of staff and students who are fully vaccinated) will be posted on the district website no later than October 1. 2021, and will be updated no less than on a monthly basis. Vaccination status of individual students and staff will not be made public. Where to get vaccinated in Marin County can be found here:  https://coronavirus.marinhhs.org/vaccinefinder Where to get Covid testing can be found here https://coronavirus.marinhhs.org/testing.  Testing will also take place at the Novato Square Shopping Center on Tuesdays starting on August 10, 2021, 9 am – 5 pm. August 17, 2021 Marin Public Health is holding a Public Health Update for the School Community at 1 pm.
