Patient Charged With Attempted Murder In Beating Of Nurse

ELGIN, IL—An Elgin Mental Health Center patient faces several felony charges after allegedly punching and knocking over a nurse. On Tuesday, the Kane County State's Attorney charged 18-year-old Travis Turner with one count of attempted first-degree murder and two counts of aggravated battery. Prosecutors say Turner attacked a nurse on July 17 and caused "life-threatening injuries to her face, skull and upper body." The nurse remains in the hospital, according to a news release. Turner's bail is set at $500,000. His next court appearance is August 11 at the Kane County Judicial Center.
