Description

Press release from Downers Grove Grade School District 58: August 5, 2021 Dear Incoming Middle School families, As we prepare for the opening of schools, we are committed to a full day of onsite, in-person instruction for all students; this includes lunch as part of the school day.  Based upon the guidance from the Illinois State Board of Education, vaccinated students do not need to distance while eating.  As our seventh and eighth grade students have had the opportunity to receive the vaccine, our general plan is for the middle school cafeterias to operate just as they did pre-pandemic. This would be a number of students around a round table eating lunch, with the cafeteria food service line available to all students.  The lunch period is 22 minutes in total.  However, we are aware that not all of our students will have been vaccinated at the beginning of the school year. We are considering offering 6-foot distanced seating for those students who are not vaccinated and/or would prefer a distanced lunch seating option.  In order for us to plan for this possibility, we hope to understand how many students/families might be interested in this option.   If you are willing, we would ask that you fill out this brief survey at your soonest convenience to help us plan for student lunches at the middle school.  This survey is not a formal commitment and is not required, but can help us to prepare our middle school buildings for lunch periods. We appreciate your continued partnership. Sincerely, Downers Grove Grade School District 58 This press release was produced by Downers Grove Grade School District 58.
