BOLINGBROOK, IL — Part of Route 53, from Interstate 55 to north of St. Andrews Drive, that runs through Bolingbrook will be resurfaced starting Aug. 16, weather permitting. The construction — a $2.2 million project — will require daily, intermittent lane closures, the Illinois Department of Transportation announced Wednesday. The 2.9-mile stretch of Route 53 will also get new Americans with Disabilities Act-compliant sidewalk ramps. The project is expected to be complete in November, officials said. The upcoming work is part of the Rebuild Illinois capital program that aims to improve more than 3,500 miles of highway and 9 million square feet of bridge deck by investing $33.2 billion into all modes of transportation, officials said. In the second year, $5.2 billion worth of fixes is taking place on 3,020 miles of highway and 270 bridges. (For more news and information like this, subscribe to the Bolingbrook Patch for free.
