UPPER EAST SIDE, NY — An elderly man was berated with anti-Asian statements by a stranger aboard a bus on the Upper East Side earlier this year, police said. The incident happened around 11:23 p.m. on April 23, as the 80-year-old man was sitting on an M15 bus heading south on Second Avenue at East 68th Street. The man was approached by a stranger who began yelling, "F--k you, Chinese" and "F--k you, China," according to police. The suspect eventually got off the bus at an unknown stop, police said. Police on Thursday released photos of the suspect on board the bus. (NYPD)The April 23 assault came in the midst of a slew of attacks against Asian New Yorkers, including the brutal beating of 61-year-old Yao Pan Ma in East Harlem on the same day. Other incidents included the beating of a 65-year-old woman in Hell's Kitchen on March 29 and another assault in the same neighborhood on May 18 .
