Description
Teacher wanted for small coop daycare, 12–20 hours/week with potential for full-time. Early childhood education teacher wanted for small cooperative playschool in Brookland (NE DC). Walking distance to Brookland Metro station. The Brookland Playschool is a cooperative daycare/preK arrangement for 2- and 3-year-olds. This year there will likely be 5 or 6 students. Professional teacher will be assisted by one parent/caregiver who rotates each class day. All adult family members involved with the coop will be vaccinated. Position will be for 3–4 mornings per week, ideally from 8am to 1pm. This includes an hour of preparation/organization time each day. We can be flexible about the details of the schedule for the right candidate. There is potential for a separate arrangement with some families to provide afternoon nanny share if the candidate desires a full-time schedule. Activities have typically included free play, music, art, snacktime, and circle time, with a focus on being outdoors. There is a large outdoor play space in the backyard. The ideal candidate: -Has experience working in daycare OR as a nanny OR is studying early childhood education -Can provide opportunities for play-based learning, some fundamentals (ABC and number recognition), and arts/music/movement -Speaks Spanish and English -Is comfortable spending significant time outside throughout the year -Can assist toddlers with masking and potty training as needed. We follow the DCPS schedule including holidays, with potential for an extension into summer. Start date Tuesday, September 7 if possible. Scheduling interviews ASAP. Candidate must be able to provide proof of Covid-19 vaccination. Pay is commensurate with experience. Range $20–$35/hour. To apply, please send an email with your resume/cv.
