Needing Advice About Getting Cheap Internet

Has an internet provider ever held you hostage? The price of my internet has nearly doubled in the past year and when the internet goes out, it takes Mediacom a week to come out for a repair. Century Link is also offered in Norwalk, but it's only a couple dollars cheaper. Can anyone tell me where or how to get cheap internet in Norwalk? FYI, I don't have a smart phone. Thanks.
