Description
Hello, I am in the process of starting my own small business as an urban farm using modern technology with a combination of cutting edge, high quality & efficient food technology for production of organic produce. Champion City Farms (“CCF”) is committed to the improvement of taste in vegetables, excellent quality and nutritional value. CCF will provide education, experience and research in the hydroponic & aquaponics fields. The farm will start and supply microgreens for the local market (farmers market & local restaurants) CCF is Veteran owned and run, it will eventually expand and later provide the growing & sales of other organic fruits & vegetables as the client list builds in its targeted market. CCF will be built around the development and training of skilled and semi-skilled staff in the hydroponic & aquaponics field. The farms aim is to carry out intensive and high turnover production within a urban environment, while providing work and leadership experience for employees. Using modern farming technology to produce high quality, nutritional, and flavorful vegetables for consumption in local markets. To create opportunities for leadership and highly productive teamwork for local employees who work on the farm. CCF has long-term commitment to building resilient local food systems and strengthening food security. CCF wants to maximizes the space that would be available to use, but being in a urban area, land & space is limited and Ideally having 4 to 10 acres would be perfect for operations & events. That size lot is available in a few different locations around Orange County and can be expensive in certain locations. Finding a home location that has sufficient room and expansion is crucial to CCF’s future growth and success. That being said its not likely that I'll be able to find or afford a large property. Using vertical farming and sustainable methods an area of 3600sqft can surprisingly be very fruitful and could produce around 100,000lbs of produce a year also with aquaponics fresh fish can be harvested. Previous stated I am in the process of getting this off the ground so to say. I am currently enrolled in a agricultural business course with Archie's Acers through the VA and partnership with Cal State Polly. For the most part I have done a lot of the work putting things together myself but I cant do it all and or my time would be better spent if I can delegate other tasks to & for others who can do them better, (sales & marketing, administrative, social media, help with securing land, etc) Any help or assistance in those areas would be apprenticed and details would be discussed further. This is a labor of love that I am working towards it paying off. I'll be seeking to get a USDA Veteran farm loan as a main source of funding but grants, crowd funding and other sources will be hopefully obtained. Thank you for reading. I can be reached at the email listed for more information & questions. Matt Champion Concept art of the farm. Footprint of roughly 60' x 60' 3600sqft.
