Description

BRANDY NEEDS A HOME.... where there is an established, well-balanced dog in residence to take cues from and guide her to happy Doghood. She is a black and tan 6 lb., 8-ish year old Female Chihuahua, Spayed, Fully Vetted, Healthy, and Micro-Chipped. She has floppy ears and a charming crooked smile. Brandy came from a hoarding situation of over 100 dogs in Puerto Rico with a mentally ill elderly woman. That is literally all that is know about her origins - I have tried to research to find more info without success. Brandy is working on her housetraining, but is not there yet. She does like to eliminate outside, and sometimes does on the cloth wee-we pads. But as often as not, she misses the pads and she will shred the paper ones. She does not chew inappropriately otherwise as long as she is provided with dog chews. She is a good eater, and has proven able to free-feed dry food without glutting. She and will follow you around the house. Brandy barks, but only when no one is home - she is otherwise quiet. She sleeps through the night without issue. She cannot be touched at this point - at all. She becomes terrified with any verbal corrections and will retreat for hours. She sometimes eats feces. She is a little afraid of my cat, Mimi, although sometimes when Brandy is feeling feisty she will chase Mimi. Just a little - one hiss and Brandy backs off. To be fair, Mimi is a diva and will sometimes chase her a little as well, or will stretch out on the floor and block Brandy from food or going outside/inside. I think Brandy will be just fine with cats. Brandy is curious and lively and has made progress in the 2 months I have been fostering her. She has just figured out that she can have fun with her stuffed animals where before she had no idea what they were for, and she loves to run around my back yard. Brandy deserves to be a happy and well-adjusted dog, and someone out there can help her to be that. If you are interested in Brandy, contact Paws4Survival Rescue. If you have more specific questions for me about her as her foster, I am happy to answer them.
