Predatory Mistakes w/Birds

Description

I’m seeing a lot of shameful behavior in the community section regarding birds. I can only assume many of these concepts apply to other animal species as well. The purpose of a small rehoming fee, as permitted by Craigslist, is to ensure that the pet you’re finding a new home for is cared for by a new owner that can afford to care for it. I know the value of bird cages. Some of you are trying to pass off your $100 Amazon.com cage as something you paid $200 for. Even if you did, the cage has no value once it’s used. Go ahead, lookup the price of used cages on Craigslist. They hover around $5-$20. Many of you are literally trying to get other people to pay for your mistakes. You got a bird, and because of your inability to crack a book open or perform a meaningful web search, you got yourself stuck with a pet you never really wanted. You thought you wanted a bird, but you didn’t get the memo that they are effectively 5-year-old children that require attention and care. I’m finding Craigslist to basically be a dysfunctional foster care system where birds are passed around several times throughout their life. It’s not healthy for a 5-year-old human. It’s certainly not healthy for a bird of any age. These predatory rehoming fees are just as gross as the people who made the poor choice to get a bird they have no clue how to raise in the first place. It gets to the point where these rehoming fees is basically a ransom with the bird being held hostage from happiness. It robs the new owner the opportunity to get all of the accessories and supplies that you failed to provide them. Stop getting birds as a piece of home decor or as a fashion accessory. Stop selling your used bird cages for full price. You don’t deserve to recoup your expenses for making such an egregious error. Cut your losses. Stop thinking about yourself and start thinking about the bird’s needs. It’s clear many of your are trying to profit off of your stupidity. If you want to be that kind of person, then maybe you should be a politician instead of a bird parent. Stop being gross. By the way, I’ve included a picture of what $120 can buy you. If I can get a giant cage this fancy for $120 brand new, why would I want your lame and junky bird cage for $200?
