We are seeking a loving and caring, live-in caregiver for our 90 year old parents in exchange for a private apartment in their beautiful home in Traverse City. Eight year ago, in anticipation of potential future needs, our father built their present home with a private caregiver’s apartment in the upper level. The apartment has a private entrance, 1 bedroom/bath, a kitchen, a living/dining room, and use of 1 stall in the garage. The home is located in the Traverse Heights neighborhood of Traverse City and is very convenient to shopping, downtown, library, the TART bike trail, etc. Dad is able to drive and remains mildly active. He occasionally handles grocery shopping and takes friends out for coffee weekly. Mom tends to be inactive, struggles along with a walker, experiences some dementia, but is able to shower herself with some assistance. Both are pleasant, low-drama, and loving individuals. They are at the point of needing assistance with cooking, cleaning, laundry, managing prescriptions, light snow removal and yard care, some bathroom/bathing assistance, incontinence care, grocery shopping, and respite care for Mom when Dad leaves the house. We are offering the apartment, 1-stall of the attached garage, all utilities and laundry facilities in exchange for the duties mentioned above, about 12-15 hours per week. Vacation days and scheduled days off will be arranged as convenient for all. Applicant must be female, non-smoking and have a clean background. Background and credit check required.
