Come meet Bernie and learn more about box turtles at the Lower East Side Ecology Center. Did you know that box turtles got their name from their ability to completely close themselves up like a box? This is just one of this animal's fascinating survival adaptations! Join us for this exclusive meet and greet and get up close and personal with our resident eastern box turtle Bernie! Attendees will learn about reptile adaptations and will receive their own East River Park Field Guide for self-guided exploration of the park's wildlife. This is an outdoor event. It may be cancelled in the case of inclement weather. We will notify registered parties via email the day before if that happens. Advance registration is preferred but not required.
