A 2-day training to encourage the use of a racial equity framework to improve outcomes for survivors of domestic violence. Culture Matters: Improving Outcomes for Survivors of Domestic Violence through Racial Equity Presented by Ruby White Starr, Co-CEO of Caminar Latino and founder of Latinos United for Peace and Equity, this 2-day training on September 14th and 15th promotes the use of a racial equity framework to improve outcomes for survivors of domestic violence and their children. By the end of this session, participants will: Develop a shared understanding of concepts related to culture, intersectionality, and equity.Recognize the many facets of identity and how these impact relationships with others.Explore how culture and inequity influence domestic violence prevention and intervention. Be better positioned to examine the norms, values, and practices in our institutions that advantage white people and work systematically to exclude and oppress Latinx, Black, and other People of Color.Receive tools that will enable them to develop action steps to promote racial equity personally, organizationally, and in broader social change efforts.Dates and Time: Tuesday, September 14, 2021, from 9am ET to 5pm ET and Wednesday, September 15, 2021, from 9am ET to 5pm ET. It does not include any additional arrangement for lodging, transportation or other attendance needs. Attendees are responsible for all their own expenses. The event will be held at the Doubletree Hotel by Hilton Savannah Historic District, located at 411 West Bay Street in Savannah, GA. The hotel has a limited number of rooms available for $139+tax each night for the attendees. The cut-off date for reserving rooms within the room block is August 13, 2021, or until the block is full. Once the room block is full or the cut-off date has passed, hotel rooms will be priced at the prevailing hotel room prices.
