We are an open book management company, and the ideal candidate will help contribute to our positive team culture and share our values: outstanding service; respect; embrace learning, growth and change; personal responsibility and accountability; and work hard and have fun THE POSITION: The Lead, will support the growth at our Distribution Center, located in Union City, CA (CDC). You will report to the on-site Operations Manager and collaborate with the other distribution centers The Lead position is a hands-on role and will lead by example. In addition to supporting the day shift, the Lead will have the additional responsibilities of either opening or closing the facility during the week; leading the Sunday crew; and may oversee our limited evening operations during November and December where we continue to ship until 10:30PM. You will assist the Operations Manager in achieving the daily KPI’s through preparing the day’s work, conducting cycle-counts, receiving, and directly picking or packing orders as the workload requires. While self-motivation and leadership skills are essential to success, it is equally important to have exceptional communication and teamwork skills for continuous communication and collaboration with the team. Key responsibilities include: • Assisting your team with regards to all aspects of processing and shipping orders to our customers including picking, packing, and shipping orders; receiving and stocking inventory; quality assurance, processing returns; stocking supplies; etc. Our goal is to ship all orders received on the same day. • Support and help drive Lean operational excellence throughout this location. • Possess the operational understanding and trust to be able to oversee the entire operations when the Operations Manager is out of office • Helping to train and motivate a highly effective warehouse team. • Supporting all aspects of facility management such as maintenance, utilities, installing shelving, etc. • Inventory management – making sure our systems contain highly accurate inventory numbers. • Be a true team player who is driven to do what is in the best interest of the organization and committed to helping all World Pantry departments exceed their goals. Qualities and Qualifications The successful candidate will possess the following skills and attributes: • A talented operations professional with 5+ years of operations experience in a manufacturing, production or distribution environment. If you are a Veteran, we would love to speak with you! • Experienced in Lean techniques centered around 5-S, inventory management, process re-engineering, etc. • An enthusiastic self-starter who is driven to create a smooth-running operation and who works well in a team environment. • A strong desire to learn, improve, and to grow professionally. • The ability to work well independently while keeping the Operations Manager and other key stakeholders apprised of current statuses. • A customer focused orientation and a true desire to do whatever it takes to make customers happy. • The ability to thrive in a small company setting along with the desire and ability to grow into future leadership and managerial roles within World Pantry • Strong analytical skills. Specifically, must be able to create Pivot tables from Excel data sets for reports and possess a general algebra understanding. • Strong oral and written communications skills. • Associate’s Degree or higher is preferred • Able to work variable hours including evening and weekends, as necessary.
