An evening of cameras and cuisine with world-renowned photographer George Lange and James Beard Best Chef nominated Christian Frangiadis! It will be a night of great photography and great food. We will dine on great culinary creations by Chef Christian Frangiadis, great drink creations from Sean Enright and lots of great photo advice/stories with returned Pittsburgh native George Lange. George will share stories and show work from his storied career with such notable celebrities as Steve Jobs and Bill Gates (George has the only posed portrait of the two), Jimmy and Warren Buffet dressing up as each other (George asked them to switch wardrobes) , behind the scene at Seinfeld photo shoots, boxes for the cast of Friends to hide in, movie posters for Jim Carrey & Jackie Brown, Andy Warhol for a French magazine, and Kobe Bryant for Sports Illustrated. See the work, hear the stories, and ask George how the pictures came to be. At dinner we will pull out our own cameras (or phones) and George will share secrets for making photos of food come alive. He will bring some simple backgrounds and lighting to show how we can personalize what we love in our photos. He will share advice from his time as Artist In Residence at Instagram on how to create a compelling story through the visual medium of photography. Mostly it will be a wild night in Garfield! George will give a guided tour of his studio, directly across the street from Spork, and will have prints available for sale as well including many famous photographs from a long illustrious career. Five course Dinner with wine and cocktail pairings will be included. Plenty of subjects to photograph! Spork is an independent, chef-owned restaurant serving a variety of fresh pastas, house cured meats, and gelato, alongside an assortment of composed small plates. Our beverage program consisting of wine, beer, and spirits features a selection of quality products curated with a focus on integrity and value.
