WALTHAM, MA — The Waltham Boys & Girls Club has received a $105,000 grant from the Baker-Polito Administration's Early Education and Out of School Time Capital Fund (EEOST) as part of a statewide effort to improve the quality of learning environments through renovation and construction projects. EEOST capital improvement grants, which are financed through the state's budget and provide matching funds that leverage private investment, range from $100,000 to $250,000 and focus on facilities that serve children from low-income families. "Our Administration is pleased to support childcare providers across the Commonwealth who have worked tirelessly throughout the COVID-19 pandemic to care for children and support families returning to work," said Gov. Charlie Baker in a statement. "Since the start of this grant program, we've invested more than $39.2 million in capital funding at childcare programs that impact the learning experiences of more than 9,000 children in communities across Massachusetts." The Waltham Boys & Girls club is one of 36 organizations that were awarded a total of $7.5 million in EEOST capital improvement grants last month. Approximately 80% of the children in these programs are from low-income families and many spend over 40 hours a week in early-learning and after-school settings.
