Press release from the Wallingford Police Department: WALLINGFORD, CT — The Wallingford Police Department has implemented a number of new crime prevention programs and community events for the upcoming months. Lock It or Lose It The Lock It or Lose It Program was started on July 27, 2021, and was created to help prevent future thefts from motor vehicles and motor vehicle thefts. The Wallingford Police Department has created a brochure for its residents with helpful tips and information on what to do if your vehicle has been broken into. This program also includes officers going out into neighborhoods recently effected by the thefts and placing the brochures in the resident's mailboxes. The brochures will also be available in the front lobby of the police department. Business Robbery Prevention The Business Robbery Prevention Program was started on July 27, 2021 and was created to inform businesses that are at a high risk of robbery (gas stations, convenience stores, liquor stores, stores with free standing ATMs, and stores open 24 hours) of what they should do to prevent robbery and what they should do in the event of a robbery. The Wallingford Police Department is also offering these businesses a short training class through the police department. The businesses whose employees take the training class will be given a certificate showing they have completed the training. If you are a business owner in Wallingford and wish to participate in this program, please contact Officer Kelly Boyle at [email protected] or call (203)294-2823 to set up a training date and time. School Supply Drive On August 14, 2021 at Walmart (844 N. Colony Road), the Wallingford Police Department will be holding a School Supply Drive from 10 am to 1 pm near the main entrance. The school related items (such as pencils, pens, rulers, composition notebooks, binders, etc.) donated will be distributed to the schools in Wallingford. This drive helps teachers to provide supplies to students that would otherwise have a difficult time obtaining their school supplies. Domestic Violence Awareness Week The Wallingford Police Department will be holding a Domestic Violence Awareness Week from October 18 through October 22, 2021. The week will include two general information sessions and a candlelight vigil, tentatively scheduled to be held on the front lawn of the police department, at the end of the week.
