CROWNSVILLE, MD — Police said a tractor-trailer overturned Wednesday morning in Crownsville. Nobody was hurt during the single-vehicle crash, authorities wrote. Officers added that the accident closed both sides of Generals Highway at Tailwind lane. Delays stretched for about 1.3 miles, Maryland's traffic map showed. Congestion stretched from the scene to the southbound Interstate 97 exit ramp for Generals Highway, the map indicated. The Anne Arundel County Police Department warned drivers to avoid Generals Highway until further notice. Officials asked local drivers to use Fairfield Loop Road and non-local travelers to take I-97. Generals Highway was still closed as of 9:45 a.m., the traffic map noted. The Maryland Department of Transportation first reported the crash at 5:25 a.m. To see the real-time traffic conditions, click here. Generals Highway remains closed at Tailwinds Lane for clean-up. Please continue to use Fairfield Loop for local travel and I-97 as alternate route. #MdTraffic https://t.co/26N1MlP03y— Anne Arundel Police (@AACOPD) August 4, 2021 Subscribe to your local Patch newsletter.
