PA. Gov. Wolf, NJ Gov. Murphy Join Calls For Cuomo's Resignation

NEW YORK — The governors of four eastern states are among the growing number of elected officials calling for Gov. Andrew Cuomo's resignation after Tuesday's release of a long-anticipated report on sexual harassment allegations against him. Pennsylvania's Tom Wolf, New Jersey's Phil Murphy, Connecticut's Ned Lamont, and Rhode Island's Dan McKee issued a joint statement Tuesday night calling for Cuomo to step down. "We are appalled at the findings of the independent investigation by the New York Attorney General. Governor Cuomo should resign from office," the statement read. New York Attorney General Letitia James released a report contending that Cuomo sexually harassed 11 women and created a hostile work environment for females. A civil inquiry into his conduct asserted that women were being truthful in claiming Cuomo touched them inappropriately, discussed their appearance and made suggestive comments to them. Cuomo denied any wrongdoing in a videotaped response from his office and has said he will not resign. That did not sway a host of elected officials who swiftly called for Cuomo to vacate his office following the report's release. They included President Joe Biden, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and New York senators Chuck Schumer and Kirsten Gillibrand. U.S. Rep. Madeleine Dean of Pennsylvania also weighed in via Twitter.
