Press release from the Downers Grove Park District: Tue August 3, 2021 Last October, the Downers Grove Park District made the decision to prohibit bicycles on the path at McCollum Park for safety reasons due to a noticeable increase in usage as a result of the pandemic. Throughout the pandemic, the District has continued to monitor usage of the path and has noticed a decline in pedestrian traffic at McCollum Park. Therefore, effective Aug. 6, 2021, bicycling may resume on the path at McCollum Park. For the safety and enjoyment of all visitors using the path, we ask that the community follow these guidelines while sharing the path: The District will continue to monitor usage of the path and will be developing a long-term improvement plan for the path at McCollum Park in the near future.
