Driver Hit Man, Dragging Him 100 Ft., After Plumstead Fight: Cops

PLUMSTEAD TOWNSHIP, PA — Police say a Philadelphia driver struck a man in the Plumstead Shopping Center's parking lot Monday evening, dragging him for more than 100 feet. The Plumstead Township Police Department was dispatched at 5:08 p.m. to the shopping center parking lot at 5762 Easton Road, where they took 44-year-old William Connolly into custody. Video surveillance footage at the scene showed Connolly arguing with a 45-year-old Quakertown man before hitting him with his car. Police said footage also showed the man being dragged 100 feet across the lot before Connolly came to a stop. The Quakertown man was taken to a local trauma center by ambulance for his injuries. Connolly was charged with aggravated assault, aggravated assault by vehicle, recklessly endangering another person, and possessing an instrument of crime. He was arraigned before Judge Kevin Wagner, who set bail at 10 percent of $500,000, and taken to Bucks County Prison where he awaits his preliminary hearing. This investigation is ongoing.
