So far, an estimated 164,446,964 Americans have been fully vaccinated, or 50.3% of the U.S. population. So far, states have largely managed their own vaccination coordination efforts — and some have proven more effective than others. In Oklahoma, 40.4% of the population are fully vaccinated, lower than the U.S. average. Lower than average vaccination rates in Oklahoma appear to be attributable in part to a greater prevalence vaccine hesitancy and resistance among residents. As of July 30, Oklahoma has received about 4,192,800 vaccinations and administered about 82.5% of those doses. Meanwhile, the virus continues to spread. In total, there have been 478,858 confirmed cases of the virus in Oklahoma as of July 30 — or 12,144 for every 100,000 people.
