Description
Hereon DC Craigslist, it is clear that there are contracts with political campaigns, third parties, governmental and of course Craigslist makes a lot of money from employers posting jobs (CL made 700 million in 2016). Reverse bating is apparent and I must take a wild guess that as little as 20% of posts originated organically by actual individual(s) - at least in the General Community posts. That is all mostly well and fine except the nature with some of these political ads are known to incite crime. Even if anyone is reverse baiting, monitoring and other means of trying to prevent crime by baiting in public space. A key problem here is the undecided voter and the non-voter, but that is not the subject of this post. That'd be ridiculous. These ads are fueling a fire in real time and I think some underestimate it. Our elections are conducted in real time. This is not the time. Perhaps you do not have the budget for monitoring all the posts, which is funny because who isn't. But political ads are vital. Some ads for a particular candidate or ideology provide solutions that overcome some of the challenges regarding the questionable goods/services postings to the General Community boards. These specific political ads are of the most questionable. Please flag and remove these. Everyone is sure to love me after saying that Craigslist should impose fines on user and contractor accounts that influence these ads - which are the highest of crime and violate civil laws. These are the most invisible consequence. Better to fine then shutdown from non-compliance of regulations. Not Craigslist jail but of course, a sustainable product has uniqueness which is vital in the diverse market of social media. Craigslist is a business right? Lastly, I do not think it is a good idea for federal and states to allow the internal weaponization of these ads in the attempt to prevent it. This isn't like dropping political flyers down from a plane in a foreign country. I hope that Craigslist would consider taking some responsibility for these ads.
