Children’s Museum of Atlanta is wrapping up the summer celebrations with fun-filled festivities throughout August! Kids are invited to make new friends during Friendship Weekend, show love to their furry friends on National Dog Day and learn about pioneering women on Women’s Equality Day, alongside more immersive programming. Continuing the interactive STEM learning into August, the Museum welcomes families to its limited-time, featured exhibit, Thomas Edison’s Secret Lab™, and newly reimagined permanent exhibit, Step Up to Science! August Special Programming Root Beer Float Day Friday, Aug. 6 Families are encouraged to join Children’s Museum of Atlanta for a sticky explosion in honor of the festive holiday! CMA On Stage Soda Science + Storytime: “Have You Thanked a Kidventor Today?” by Patrice McLaurin Session A: 10 a.m., 11 a.m. and 12 p.m. / Session B: 2 p.m., 3 p.m. and 4 p.m. Science Bar Kids will learn about entomologists Sophie Lutterlough and Charles Henry Turner, as well as the science of insects. Session A: 9:45 a.m. / Session B: 1:45 p.m. Creativity Café Little ones will make scribble art, windsocks and work on a butterfly mural together. Session A: 9:45 a.m. / Session B: 1:45 p.m. Chasse Dance Company Performance Sunday, Aug. 15 During Session B, the Museum will host a special performance by the talented dancers of Chasse Dance Company!   CMA On Stage Storytime: “Have You Thanked a Kidventor Today?” by Patrice McLaurin + Super Spectacular Science Show Session A: 10 a.m., 11 a.m. and 12 p.m. / Session B: 2 p.m., 3 p.m. and 4 p.m. Honeybee Awareness Day Saturday, Aug. 21 In honor of the buzz-worthy holiday, children will learn all about the amazing pollinators at the Science Bar. National Dog Day Sunday, Aug. 22 Join the Museum’s celebration of furry friends with storytimes; doggie bingo; and festive science and art activities. Visit the Plaza, where FurKids will have adorable, adoptable dogs for families to meet and greet! On Stage, little ones will learn about how dogs can train to be heroes with a reading of Laura Numeroff’s “Raising a Hero,” then head up to the Science Bar to make homemade dog treats. CMA On Stage Doggie Bingo + Storytime: “Raising a Hero” by Laura Numeroff Session A: 10 a.m., 11 a.m. and 12 p.m. / Session B: 2 p.m., 3 p.m. and 4 p.m  Science Bar Kids will make their own homemade dog treats in honor of National Dog Day! Kids will read “Malala’s Magic Pencil” by Malala Yousafzai and learn about the trailblazing entomologist Sophie Lutterlough at the Science Bar!          CMA On Stage             Storytime: “Malala’s Magic Pencil” by Malala Yousafzai + Super Spectacular Science Show Session A: 10 a.m., 11 a.m. and 12 p.m. / Session B: 2 p.m., 3 p.m. and 4 p.m.  International Bat Night Sunday, Aug. 29 Guests will read “Stellaluna,” Janell Cannon’s heartfelt story about a lost baby bat who finds her way home.              CMA On Stage             Storytime: “Stellaluna” by Janell Cannon + Super Spectacular Science Show Session A: 10 a.m., 11 a.m. and 12 p.m. / Session B: 2 p.m., 3 p.m. and 4 p.m.  Continuing in August… Thomas Edison’s Secret Lab™ Through Tuesday, Sept. 7 Step into the Lab and be inspired by the animated series and the brilliant work of Thomas Edison! Immersing little ones in the wonders of science, Thomas Edison’s Secret Lab™ offers captivating, hands-on experiences that introduce kids to the world of STEM, engages them in the scientific process and highlights some of the most inspiring, renowned scientists and innovators alongside their groundbreaking discoveries.  Sensory Friendly Sessions Sunday, Aug. 1 Families with children on the autism spectrum or with sensory processing disorders are encouraged to join the Museum’s 2021 Sensory Friendly Sessions! On select Sundays during Session A, kids can enjoy a playful, hands-on experience with a sensory-modified setting, limited admission and sound and lighting adjustments to ensure safety and comfort. Stage programming will not be available during Sensory Friendly Sessions. Session A: 9:30 a.m.  Children’s Museum of Atlanta continues to prioritize the health and safety of its guests, offering elevated health precautions for a comfortable visit.
