PTAB is an organization that inspects processing tomatoes for defects and lab results after the tomatoes are harvested and before they are processed in the canneries. Inspection begins early to mid-July and runs until about mid-October, and proceeds 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Inspectors would be assigned to work either day shift or night shift, typically 4 or 5 days a week. But, the hours and days can vary. There will be a two-hour live online training session before the Inspectors begin work.
Inspection takes place 24/7 from approximately July well into October.
