What is the MEASURE of discrimination? Is it not in the ALTERNATIVE choice that is available? For example let's take the south in the 1950's at a restaurant: Restaurant Owner (to black man): "I'm sorry, we don't serve negros, dogs or Mexicans." Black Man: "What law gives you the right?" Restaurant Owner: "No law, it's just restaurants agree its good for you and society..you know...health and safety." Black Man: "But its not fair." Restaurant Owner: "It's fair, you are free to go elsewhere." Black Man: "But they ALL don't serve us." Restaurant Owner: "Still fair, you can eat at home." Black Man: "But my CHOICE was to eat out just like the rest of the people." Restaurant Owner: "Then you have to be like the rest of the people admitted in." Black Man: "I get the feeling you're trying to FORCE YOUR CHOICE upon us... as OUR CHOICE." Restaurant Owner: "Welcome to how fascism works--we in power get everyone to agree in LOCK STEP, yet extend very few real laws. TRUST US: Its for your own good and the good of society--that is our cry as justification to usurp you as our slave to our choice.". The MEASURE of discrimination was (in that example) extensive--none served him. He had LIMITED CHOICE for eating, disguised as REAL CHOICE. I'm afraid we have no real liberals left in the democrat party--they lost the 1960's education.
