Lead Custodian Parkrose High School 2021-2022 School Year Hourly Rate: $22.10 to $24.86 per hour DOE (Job Classification N2) Salary and fringe benefits as per Agreement between Board of Education and O.S.E.A. (Oregon School Employees Association) Days/Hours: Monday – Friday, 6:00 am – 2:30 pm; 260 Days a Year Deadline to Apply: Open Until Filled; Applications received by August 17, 2021 at 4 pm will be given first consideration. Overview: The job of “Custodian-Lead-High School” is done for the purpose/s of maintaining facilities in safe operating condition; maintaining a preventive maintenance program; documenting information, resolving immediate operational and/or safety concerns, ensuring assignments are completed in a safe, proper and timely manner and directing assigned workers as necessary. Job Requirements: •Experience - Prior job related experience. •Regular attendance needs to be maintained •Adhere to all district health and safety policies, including all precautions of the Blood Borne Pathogens Control Plan and Personal Protective Equipment •High School diploma or equivalent. •Multicultural Competency Skills, Knowledge and/or Abilities Required: •Ability to work independently and make mature, responsible decisions. The maintenance supervisor and/or lead custodian is not always on site. •Skills to use cleaning agents; supplies and equipment; perform basic math to calculate accurate dilution of cleaning agents. •Knowledge of methods and use of cleaning materials, equipment, supplies, safe work practices and HVAC operation. •Ability to lift a maximum of 75 pounds •Ability to push or pull a minimum of 75 pounds •Abilities to stand for prolonged periods, understand and carry out oral and written instructions, adhere to safe work practices, work independently with minimal supervision, perform a variety of tasks, and adjust to flexible assignments often on short. •Significant physical abilities include: lifting/carrying/pushing/pulling/stooping/reaching/handling/fingering, talking/hearing conversations, near visual acuity/depth perception. •Ability to communicate with students, staff and public. License, Certifications, Bonding, and/or Testing Required: •Current Driver’s License •Blood Borne Pathogen Training Required – If not taken, employee must participate in Blood Pathogen Training at MESDwithin two months of hire. The District will pay the cost of the course but is done on employee’s own time unless scheduled on shift time. •SafeSchools Training (provided online by District) Criminal Justice Fingerprint Clearance (cost to the employee: $12.50 for fingerprints; $59.00 for criminal background check – one-time payroll deduction) Preferred: • Bilingual • Experience working with diverse student populations preferred Reports to: Supervisor of Maintenance To Apply: Candidates will complete the Parkrose application online at TalentEd. Applicants with culturally diverse backgrounds are strongly encouraged to apply. ____________________________________________________________________________________ Position Details: • Arranges furnishings and equipment for the purpose of providing adequate preparations for meetings, classroom activities and events. • Builds items (e.g. counters, temporary partitions, etc.) for the purpose of modifying and/or adapting facilities to specific needs. • Cleans school facilities (i.e., classrooms, offices, multipurpose rooms, grounds, etc.) for the purpose of maintaining a sanitary, safe and attractive environment, landscaped areas and related items (e.g. storm drains, rain gutters, etc.) for the purpose of preventing flooding and removing hazards. • Delivers variety of items (e.g. supplies, mail, packages, furniture, etc. ) for the purpose of distributing the materials to the appropriate parties. • Directs personnel as assigned for the purpose of maximizing the efficiency of the workforce and meeting shift requirements. • Inspects system components (e.g. parts, equipment and facility appurtenances (i.e., sidewalks, fences, roads, etc.) for the purpose of identifying potential repairs and providing an ongoing program of preventative maintenance. • Maintains grounds keeping equipment for the purpose of ensuring the availability of equipment in safe operating condition. • Maintains landscaping (e.g. lawns, shrubbery, planted areas, irrigation, fences, playgrounds, etc.) for the purpose of preserving grounds in a healthy, attractive and safe condition. • Prepares grounds (e.g. ball fields, courtyards, flower beds, etc.) for the purpose of providing adequate, attractive and safe areas for assemblies and/or recreational activity. • Prepares documentation for the purpose of providing written support and/or conveying information. • Procures equipment, supplies and materials for the purpose of maintaining availability of required items and completing jobs efficiently. • Repairs system components (e.g. parts, equipment and facility appurtenances (i.e. sidewalks, fences, roads, etc.) for the purpose of maintaining facilities in a safe, comfortable and operating condition. • Responds to emergency situation (e.g. facility damage, damaged athletic facilities, roof leaks, etc.) for the purpose of resolving immediate safety concerns. • Secures facilities and grounds for the purpose of minimizing property damage, loss and liability and ensuring safety at work site. Other Job Functions: • Assists other personnel as may be required for the purpose of supporting them in the completion of their work activities. • Evaluates landscaped areas, equipment, sprinkler systems and grounds (e.g. fields, parking areas, etc.) for the purpose of identifying repairs and/or replacement needs, maintain schedules and preventing erosion. Installs system component parts, playground, classroom and office equipment and facility appurtenances (e.g. sidewalks, fences, roads, etc.) for the purpose of maintaining facilities in a safe, comfortable and operating condition. • Repairs furniture and equipment for the purpose of ensuring that items are available and in safe working condition. • Requests equipment and supplies for the purpose of maintaining inventory and ensuring availability of items as needed to properly maintain facilities. • Requests materials, supplies and equipment for the purpose of ensuring that adequate materials are available to complete assignments in a timely manner.
